Published in 1862 by the Atlantic Monthly, Henry David Thoreau's Walking is among the major Transcendentalist works, exploring the importance of spending time in nature and separating oneself from society.

Thoreau writes, "I do not know of any poetry to quote which adequately expresses this yearning for the Wild." He may have solved this quandry on his own, later writing, "In short, all good things are wild and free." We couldn't agree more.
